As wedding photographer, I have seen alot of weddings, behind the scenes and what to do and not to do. So here is 1 tip. Hire a makeup artist.
You will not regret your decision. It makes such a big difference in the end result of your images. You are the BRIDE. Everyone is looking at you, you simple want to be as beautiful as possible. This also gives you more confidence when you walk down the aisle and every. single. person is watching YOU. You feel your best when you look your best! So invest in yourself.
I interviewed Brittany of Brittany Nicole Makeup regarding bridal makeup and I think you will find this to be very helpful as you plan your special day. We did a bridal shoot and this week we will be showing you more of the images so stay tuned.
Holly Ann: So Brittany, what surprises you the most about misconceptions brides have about hiring a makeup artist for their wedding?
Brittany Nicole: The two most common misconceptions I have experienced are: Brides wanting to look like the mirror image of a photograph or an advertisement; as well as the time consumption it takes for makeup application to achieve the look that satisfies the Bride.
Holly Ann: How is day to day makeup different from professional makeup?
Brittany Nicole : Day to day makeup is very simple and natural. This look may consist of your favorite go to products such as: Moisturizers or BB Creams, concealer for your blemishes, foundation, blush, mascara and a soft lipstick shade or nude tinted lip gloss. The goal is to not be "over done", this process should be quick, easy and highlight your natural features.
Professional makeup is designed to transform. Its a technique that enhances or alter your appearance. From highlighting and contouring, to the stage or in front of the camera; professional makeup is meant to be polished, durable and cater to a certain look the makeup artist is trying to accomplish.
Holly Ann: From a photographer's perspective too, the Pro Makeups do not contain Titanium Dioxide which is made up of white particles. These are reflective and create a "shine" to your face which you do not want in your images. Your everyday makeup just isn't created to be under camera light and flash.
Holly Ann: How is on location makeup a stress reliever for your brides?
Brittany Nicole: My brides have a lot to prep for on their big day and traveling shouldn't be one of them. Its about the convenience of having me right there when they need me. Also, doing makeup on site allows for a fresher look and less touch ups or reapplication.
Holly Ann: What is the average time it takes to apply a "natural look" for a bride?
Brittany Nicole: The average time for a natural look is about 45 minutes to an hour, but that can vary depending on skin type, the amount of coverage the bride my need, and if I have to tweeze or shape their brows before the makeup application.
Holly Ann: What is the average time if take to apply a "dramatic look" for a bride?
Brittany Nicole: The average time for a more dramatic look can take a hour, and also depending on the brides needs.
I love working with Brittany because she is a really sweet girl but also because she knows her craft. She understands working under time constraints and she is consciences of the time without making the bride feel under pressure which is a good balance to have.
